1834 Eliza Eyre (Harrison)

Eliza Eyre (Harrison)

When Eliza Eyre was born in 1832 in Milford, Derbyshire, her father, Joseph, was 19, and her mother, Ellen, was 21. She had seven siblings.

At the age of 10 she was a Cotton Mule Scavenger at the mill - a hugely dangerous job, she would have been sent underneath the machinery to retrieve bits of cotton. She later became a Cotton Spinner.

She married George W Harrison on 1 August 1854 in Duffield, Derbyshire.

They had seven children in 20 years.

She died in July 1905 in Shardlow, Derbyshire, at the age of 73.
