Ruth Hedges (Reader)

When Ruth Maud Hedges was born on 6 January 1889 in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, her father, Thomas, was 26, and her mother, Ellen, was 21. 

Ruth was in service in Barnett and was a housemaid, nanny and cook. 

She had one daughter (Ruby) with an unknown father. Ruby was taken in by Ruth's parents and passed off as Ruth's youngest sister. 

She then married Frederick Reader and they had one son together, Duncan. 

They lived in Putney and Enfield. She moved to Dawlish with Duncan when he retired. 

She died in 1986 in Dawlish at the age of 97.
