When Arthur Stanley was born in 1896 at the Rose and Crown Inn in Tutbury, Staffordshire, his father, Edward, was 38 and his mother, Ada, was 27.
He served in the Yorkshire Regiment in WW1 and was severely wounded.
He married Jessie Oliphant and had two daughters.
He worked for the Ministry of Labour. He stood as Conservative candidate for Leicestershire.
He had three brothers and one sister.
He died in 1972 at the age of 76.
