Alfred Wright


When Alfred Jack Wright was born in 1899 in Walthamstow, Essex, his father, Alfred, was 25 and his mother, Emma, was 24. 

He was a plasterer and worked for the family business, Samuel Wright & Co, in Hackney. 

He served his country in WW1, firstly in thr 2nd/4th Royal Scots, then subsequently in the 11th Btn Duke of Wellington Regiment, before finally transferring to the Army Reserves. During his service he was reported Missing in Action, and was then a prisoner of war in Giessen Camp in Germany. 

 He married Winifred Violet Broom on 13 August 1921. They had one child during their marriage. 

He died on 8 December 1959 in Middlesex at the age of 60..
