Edward Philip Oakden

When Edward Philip Oakden was born in 1901 in Tutbury, Staffordshire, his father, Thomas, was 45 and his mother, Martha, was 42. 

His brother Tommy accidentally shot him in the eye when they were children, resulting in him losing an eye, but becoming a wonderful snooker player as he could focus better down the cue! 

A grain buyer for Bass, he had one son and two daughters with Marjorie Helen Walkerdine between 1928 and 1937. He had two brothers and three sisters.
