1913 Amelia Grace Currey (Combstock)

Amelia Grace Currey (Combstock)

When Amelia Grace Currey was born on 1 June 1913 in Powderham, Devon, her father, Ernest, was 23, and her mother, Ethel, was 21.

The family moved to Dawlish when she was young and she stayed there for the rest of her life, only leaving Devon twice in her life (for the marriage of her nephew, and then the marriage of her great niece).

She married Cyril Richard E Combstock in April 1937 in Newton Abbot, Devon and, during WW2, she took in two evacuees from the East end of London.

She cleaned houses, took in laundry and latterly worked in a neighbour's fish and chip shop. She was a member of the Royal British Legion.

She died in November 1995 in Dawlish at the age of 82
